STLCC Basketball Teams Seek National Titles
The St. Louis Community College women's and men's basketball teams begin their quest for a National Junior College Athletic Association Division II championship this week.
The STLCC women are seeded 11th in the Division II tournament with a 24-8 record. The Archers beat Guilford Tech Community College 77-59 in the opening round.
Four players reached double figures for the Archers. Chrishana Wilson topped all scorers with 28 points and also grabbed 13 rebounds. Ellisha Davis added 14 points. Erika Harvey (12) and Shamiah Oliver (11) were the other double-digit scorers.
The Archers will face Monroe in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The championship game will be played at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
                                             

The men’s squad will open up play in Danville, Ill., at 11 a.m. Wednesday against Louisburg College. Louisburg, the Region X champion and third seed, brings a 27-4 record to the tournament. The Region XVI champion Archers, unseeded in the field, are 21-12.
If the Archers win, they will face either Essex County or Grand Rapids at 8 p.m. Thursday. If they lose, the Archers will take on the loser of Essex County and Grand Rapids at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
