Flo Valley student selected as STLCC Commencement speaker

Johnson, FV Fine Arts graduate, to deliver commencement address
Growing up in the Baden and Walnut Park neighborhoods of St. Louis, Janessa Johnson never expected the success and honors she has received. Johnson was selected to deliver the STLCC commencement address at the Chaifetz Arena on Friday, May 10. Her accomplishments include Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the Dean’s List and exhibiting work at the Varsity Art exhibit (Art St. Louis) and winning the Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholarship from Washington University in St. Louis.
“The faculty at Flo Valley touched my heart and soul in so many different ways that I could not have imagined,” said Johnson. “They made me eager to learn.” Her full-tuition scholarship allows Johnson, a 2010 graduate of Northwest Academy of Law High School, to study at the famed Sam Fox School of Art and Design.
