New healthcare
scholarship available for STLCC students
BJC
Healthcare creates Valerie Bell and Kelvin Westbrook Endowed scholarship
STLCC students studying
to become healthcare professionals now have another avenue of financial
support. BJC Healthcare, one of the largest employers in the St. Louis
metropolitan area, recently gifted the STLCC Foundation funds to create an
endowed scholarship to honor Valerie Bell, a former STLCC Foundation board
member, and her husband, Kelvin Westbrook, a former BJC Healthcare board
member.
The scholarship
encourages students to seek degrees and careers in the healthcare industry, as
well as provides financial assistance to make those dreams realities. Jeff
Pittman, STLCC chancellor, says the college is grateful for the investment in
STLCC. “We are honored and humbled by
BJC’s generous gift to the STLCC Foundation to assist students pursuing careers
in health care professions,” said Pittman.
The college is proud of
its history of providing educated and well-trained health professionals to the
St. Louis workforce. With the completion of the new Center for Nursing and
Health Sciences, STLCC trains nearly 900 students for careers in more than 10
high demand health science professions.
