Honoring Joseph Worth by supporting students

Worth scholarship and others support student achievement

The family of Joseph B. Worth, Ph.D. established a scholarship in his name to honor his legacy and memory after his passing in 2015. The award supports students whose life challenges may separate them from opportunities, but who persevere through obstacles to pursue their degrees.

A 2011 David L. Underwood Award recipient, Worth spent 18 years at STLCC and devoted his time helping students achieve academic success. He served as head of the FV Counseling Department and progressed to the position of Vice President of Student Affairs. He left a lasting example of excellence for STLCC and the Florissant Valley community.

The Worth Scholarship is one of hundreds of scholarships available to STLCC students through the STLCC Foundation. Award amounts vary and are granted by merit and need. Private citizens, organizations and businesses offer scholarships for a wide array of majors from art and music to allied health and skilled trades.  Two types of scholarships exist at the college STLCC Board of Trustee Scholarship where no applications are required, and scholarships managed by the STLCC Foundation which require application submissions.
