For 7 consecutive years Saint Louis Community College has teamed up with Better Family Life, Inc. to offer St. Louisans who have misdemeanor warrants an opportunity to resolve their legal issues during the St. Louis Metropolitan Area Amnesty Program and Legal Expo.

The program at STLCC will be conducted over three days, and allow individuals to resolve outstanding warrants at its three campuses from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
  • Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Meramec campus, 11333 Big Bend Road
  • Thursday, Aug. 11, at the Florissant Valley campus, 3400 Pershall Road
  • Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Forest Park campus, 5600 Oakland Ave.

The Amnesty program provides participants the chance to resolve situations that may prevent them from obtaining or keeping a job or accessing housing and educational resources.
Individuals who want to get new court dates for existing warrants must attend the expo, complete a workshop to get a voucher, then take the voucher to the appropriate municipality to obtain a new court date.
The Amnesty program was established in 2001 to help citizens clear their records of outstanding traffic-related warrants. The program was expanded in 2006 to include all misdemeanor warrants, and again in 2012 to include outstanding child support warrants.
Better Family Life brought attention to and championed this issue before the civil unrest of August 2014 and the scathing Department of Justice Report. In 2015, the program once again expanded to add a Legal Expo for those whose needs went beyond misdemeanor, and child support warrants, the focus of the three-day event.
To date, thousands of citizens throughout the metro area have taken advantage of this community service program.
